Odds and Ends

The Friday Baking Experiment continued last week, but it’s not worth talking too much about. I made Snickerdoodles, they were fantastic, and we ate them. It’s definitely going to be my go-to recipe for Snickerdoodles, since they were so chewy with a great balance of cinnamon and sugar.

So far I haven’t gained any weight by baking every Friday, but it’s probably just a matter of time. This week I’m planning to make bread pudding, again from the Back in the Day Bakery Cookbook.

Biscones

Please don’t think that my posting about the Friday Baking Experiment on Sunday indicates a lack of enthusiasm. This week I continued to explore the Back in the Day Bakery Cookbook and made their Buttermilk Biscones.

A quick recap—since I’m not writing on deadline at the moment, I’ve decided to indulge my love of cooking each Friday. For the past several years I’ve been so busy with The Lilly Hawkins Mysteries that I haven’t had time to do much else.

Look Mom, I’m a Blogger!

So I’ve finally joined the twenty-first century and started a blog. I promise not to talk too much. I’ll definitely post news about my own publications, but there’ll also be links to fun things I read and see. I especially love movies and television, so expect a lot of recaps and reviews.

Since I’m off contract at the moment—which means that I’m currently writing something without a deadline hanging over my head—I’ve started a Friday baking experiment. You can expect to hear about that as well, especially if it goes badly.
